Now that Anya has this whole walking thing down she’s starting to think about language. She spends all day, every day, babbling and calling out and blowing raspberries. It’s one big party in here, what with the big one galloping around and whinnying like a horse and Anya’s need to fill in a years worth of comments. So far, this language has only been vaguely English sounding, more like German or Cantonese, really. But yesterday, she and I walked into a room and she spied her father. Curling her little fist open and closed into a backward wave she announced, “HI!”
So there we have it. I believe we have a first word. Is it too much to hope that her next word will be “Mama”?
