My birthday was not the rocking good time one would have hoped for. This was largely due to the fact that I didn't sleep well the night before and so spent a large portion of the day feeling very grumpy. Mark and I discovered a whole series of little disagreements throughout the day, which surprisingly didn't improve things for me. The day brightened considerably when we stopped in on a friend and she fed us a flourless chocolate cake that was stunningly tasty while the girls played happily with her daughter. If only the kids had followed up that visit with a solid nap. Sigh. When dinner time rolled around Mark somehow thought I should be cooking. He had the audacity to roll his eyes at me when I suggested otherwise, although to his credit, he got right to it.
Luckily for all of us my dad called and we abandoned Mark's half cooked dinner in favor of a diner downtown with family. Which was tasty, fun and involved ice cream. YAY! After dinner I left Mark to handle bedtime and hit the gym with a friend, which was painful but allowed me to vent and spend time with someone I adore.
So all in all, not the best birthday ever but really not at all tragic. Maybe next year I'll hide out in my room all day with my computer and have a virtual party with you folks.
